October 6 (Wednesday) – Stocks 102 – Your Personal Investing Framework

This workshop is the follow-up to the Her Dollars & Sense ‘Stocks 101’ workshop, and it is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of what stocks are and would like to take a deeper dive into learning how to invest in the stock market.  Topics we will cover:

  • Types of investment vehicles (mutual funds, ETFs, etc.)
  • Diversification and correlation
  • Difference between growth versus value
  • Environmental, social, governance (capitalization) factors
  • Where to invest
  • Fee structures
  • Account types and which to invest in (non-registered, RRSP, TFSA, etc.)

Presenter:

Cindy Huang joined Leith Wheeler in February 2012. She is a Portfolio Manager responsible for managing discretionary investment portfolios for Private Clients and Foundations. Prior to joining the Private Client team, she spent several years with the firm’s Pensions group working with consultants and institutional clients. Following that, she worked with the retail markets team, helping to develop the firm’s advisor business.

Cindy graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has completed the Canadian Securities Course. Cindy holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of CFA Society Vancouver. She is passionate about improving financial literacy among women and new immigrants, speaking at events for Women in Capital Markets and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.
