This workshop will be a comprehensive beginner’s guide to investing in stocks, and will be suitable for those who are interested in learning about stock investing and want to start investing themselves.
Some of the topics we will be covering:
What are stocks and how does the stock market work?
Why do people invest in stocks? What are the potential benefits and risks?
What types of companies issue stocks?
What types of stocks are out there?
Why do stock prices go up or down?
What investment strategy should you use when investing in stocks?
What are the different vehicles for investing in stocks?

What types of fees are there?
Presenter:
Cindy Huang joined Leith Wheeler in February 2012. She is a Portfolio Manager responsible for managing discretionary investment portfolios for Private Clients and Foundations. Prior to joining the Private Client team, she spent several years with the firm’s Pensions group working with consultants and institutional clients. Following that, she worked with the retail markets team, helping to develop the firm’s advisor business.
Cindy graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has completed the Canadian Securities Course. Cindy holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of CFA Society Vancouver. She is passionate about improving financial literacy among women and new immigrants, speaking at events for Women in Capital Markets and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.
